Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has rejected claims that Nawaz Sharif abandoned his political vision. He said timing matters, not commitment. According to him, practical implementation of ideas can be delayed but principles remain intact. He stressed that critics misjudge Nawaz Sharif’s consistency and long-term vision.

Speaking on a television programme, Asif explained that the party’s main focus is now on the economy. He highlighted stability and foreign policy as central goals. He added that Pakistan has already set its direction and must keep moving forward. He urged unity and determination to reach these objectives.

Furthermore, Asif argued that if Nawaz Sharif had completed five years in office, Pakistan would be stronger. He said economic indicators were positive during Sharif’s tenure. He maintained that circumstances would have been very different today under a full five-year government. His remarks pointed to missed opportunities in the past.

Meanwhile, he clarified that his comments did not create friction with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He described Shehbaz as a partner in achieving national goals. Asif underlined that party unity remains firm despite political challenges. He assured that differences do not affect their shared priorities.

Finally, Asif praised Maryam Nawaz for her role as Punjab Chief Minister. He called her the party’s future and a capable leader. He said she is performing well and proving her leadership. He also noted that she is like a daughter to him. His endorsement strengthened her position within the party.
